I just joined Unite-Amicus. I thought it was the right thing to do and Peter Tatchell agrees. We shall see how this pans out . . . .

Support for the labour government is a given for such a monolithic organisation but I will not have my money used to lobby for new nuclear builds!

Having simmered for a few hours I am determined to adopt a rational position over this dilemma. On the one hand we have unionisation: Undoubtedly a good thing. On the other we have that union's support for the Labour Petty and new nuclear build. I do not think they are right on either of these things, but is it grounds to reject the undeniable good of being a member of a union. This may be purely selfish on my part as having the backing of a union in certain situations can be invaluable.
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely certain that whatever my position on this will finally be, it will be a compromise- as my affiliation with the Green Party is. They are not perfect, but I rationalise that they are the least worst option. That may well be the case here.
It doesn't mean I can't call them a bunch of cockweasels.
