An anonymous commentator pointed me to Sarah's website and claimed the following block of text was from it:
"My family roots are all ‘green’. I come from a line of 10 generations of ‘wise women’, who used ‘the olde ways’ in their lives, work and home life. I follow suit. I grow my fruit, veg and herbs as well as botanicals, I make organic herbal medicines from tried-and-tested family recipes dating back centuries. I also make organic cosmeceuticals and natural jewelery and offer community spiritual advice on a regular basis."
On a related note, Sarah is currently being hosted by the People's Republic of South Devon in the role of "Eco-Agony Aunt". I took the opportunity to put to her some of my reservations about Green Party policy with the following question:
I look forward to hearing her answer.Dear Sarah,
thank you for taking the time to answer people’s environmental question. My question is this: As a Green Party member and a scientist who practices vivisection I am dismayed by the conflict between the party’s evidence-based environmental and sustainability policies, their ideological opposition to vivisection and their endorsement of new age quackery in the form of complimentary and alternative medicine. How are we to convince people of the righteousness of our political cause and attract broad public support when the party conducts itself with just as much hypocrisy as the grey parties?
Yours,
Doctor Punk Science
UPDATE 7-2-10:
Sarah's website appears to have been deleted. I wonder why? Personally, I hope its because she's read this.
Well done for pointing this out. A concerted drive to highlight the po-mo crystal polishing cuntards (I like the last epithet, ought to have thought of that one myself) like Ms Goldsmith's and their role in the party might encourage a few of the party glitterati to address the issues and thereby exapnd their appeal to jaded sociopaths like me who just about still have a heart and social conscience
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work and keep spreading the bad words
Thanks, dude! I try to do my bit. ;~)
ReplyDeleteTip off from a reporter on the WMN; Sarah Goldsmith has another website:
ReplyDeletehttp://thefourthwitch.co.uk/ which is self-explanatory.
It seems when the press started asking the Green Party if it was true a self-proclaimed witch was their candidate in Torbay – there was a no comment reply. Suddenly all references to her disappeared. The South Devon Green Party’s Spring 2008 newsletter suggests Sarah Goldsmith was the PPC. http://newforest.greenparty.org.uk/files/newsletter/South%20West%20GP%20Newsletter%20Spring%2008.pdf
"The main news on a local level is that the SDGP will be running two MP candidates in the next general elections, specifically Sarah Goldsmith and LydiaSomerville."
Oh no ... could this be another Tony Gosling moment for the Green Party ...
ReplyDeleteI've just come accross your page and read the above. You say she has poorly spelt it. I don't see any spelling mistakes. I don't see anywhere she says she is MORE spiritual or wise than anyone either. Also I don't understand how ten generations of practicing makes her post-modern?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't she have a right to be who she is and be a good enough person to represent a constituency? She is the only one in south devon greens who isn't running a smear campaign. Thanks to your 'anonymous' tip-off from the fundamental Christian Lib Dem councillor for West Teignmouth David Cox, this all seems to be a little silly. Especially when the lib-dem MP Adrian Sanders has just signed up for the 'no negative campaigning in the 2010 general election' page on Facebook, and dear David has not!
ReplyDeleteCapisce?
And WTF are "cosmeceuticals"?
As for "Doesn't she have a right to be who she is and be a good enough person to represent a constituency?"- of course she has. As long as the constituency she represents supports the same fluff and woo that flows from her mouth. However, as a Green Party representative she should promote party values and policies. Admittedly she blends right in with some of the more whack MFSS entries but as far mainstream policies go- and I'm not sure if you get this- achieving broad political support, which is quite the point of representing a political party, requires . . . . well . . . requires all the things that Sarah lacks. I.E. a firm grip on reality.
As for your rant on Lib Dems, all I an do to put my point across is link- once again- to Merrick’s wonderful piece of performance poetry.

Not a rant - David Cox attacked her, asking the exact same questions the same day he sent you this link - the evidence of that is still on Adrian Sanders's Facebook wall for all to see.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link you will like. it shows how fuckin dumb some green party people are

@Anon 23.59 - If someone as retarded as a lib dem was able to put Sarah on the back foot by questioning her sanity over the bizarre claims on her various websites then she was clearly an appalling choice of candidate. As another commentator has recently observed, the Green Party's penchant for letting any old whackjob stand and represent will inevitably result in the selection of a handful of fruitcakes such as Sarah who will do appalling damage to the party's integrity and credibility. Its hard enough having to defend against accusations of hair-shirted, tin-foil-hat wearing, whale-cuddlers without people like her standing on a podium and declaring that if everyone just rubs a toad on their genitals twice week and drinks magik water collected at dawn from the standing stones of Stonehenge (no joke!) then they will be healed and at peace with Gaia, the Earth Goddess. For fuck's sake, saving the planet requires intensive research, social justice and education- NOT someone pretending that putting another jumper on in winter instead of turning the thermostat up will stop global warming!
ReplyDeleteWow - you really are running scared from life and all its wonderful diversity are you not???
DeleteI think you have done the appalling damage to the party's integrity and credibility not her
ReplyDeleteJudging by the links on another post, the Sarf Devon GP don't need any help on that score.
ReplyDeleteWhat's rhetorical about it? I see nothing retorical.

ReplyDeleteSo good of you to present a well argued and evidenced case to support your assertion.
Oh, wait . . .
@julianne
What's rhetorical about it? I see nothing retorical.
That's because you're a cloaca.
Have to say that as someone who was involved with the South West Devon Green Party at the time, I found myself skimming back over this smear campaign that was launched against Sarah by your good self (courtesy of your "leak" - quite obviously the diabolic duo of Lydia and her pathetic lackey Richard Fairfax, as nasty a pair of backstabbing wankers as I have had to privilege to encounter. Your particularly judgmental involvement in this whole is something that you should be utterly embarrassed about, particularly since Somerville's underhanded tactics and general power-crazed brand of personal egocentricity split the Party locally. Vicious, self serving, power hungry bitch that she was, her next victim as I recall was Paula Black, and her personal campaign of trying to eliminate anyone standing in her way. having only just come across your posts whilst nostalging over these times, I feel obligated to point out (since you were clearly one of the outlets of her semi-Stalinist purge, that your own hatchet job here shows you to be the kind of "cuntard" (rather like the epithet too) that the Green Party really does not need more than anyone else. Nasty little fuck, aren't you?
